American Hole 'N One Inc. refused to pay because they discovered Calhoun had played college basketball. The teams playing were the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, and Calhoun was picked from the Bulls crowd in a timeout. The likelihood of making the shot was less than 1%. Despite the success, the rules stated that anyone attempting the shot must never have participated in organized basketball.

Calhoun Eventually Got Paid

This was how Calhoun got the one million dollar prize but in $50,000 payments over 20 years. Of course, there were taxes, but he still got payments into 2013. He also kept his job as an office supplies salesman.
