A Bodybuilder Can’t Keep Up With the World’s Strongest Man Workout

Bodybuilder and fitness vlogger Will Tennyson has faced countless challenging workouts alongside professional arm wrestlers, powerlifters, and CrossFit athletes. In his most recent display of strength and determination, Tennyson meets Mitchell Hooper — the unstoppable force dubbed the 2023 World’s Strongest Man champion — for an intense strongman training session.

A Test of Strength

The first segment of this seemingly impossible test of athleticism includes the yoke carry. Hooper encourages the bodybuilder by stating that if he doesn’t struggle during the yoke carry, he’d be disappointed. Starting at 185 pounds, Tennyson gradually increases the weight on the metal frame with each round — eventually reaching his limit of 500 pounds.

Not one to back down from a challenge, Tennyson continues onward and successfully lifts Hooper’s astonishing 770-pound frame. Although he can’t walk far with it, his spirits remain unyielding as he claims he can squat 770 pounds.

The Log Press and Beyond

Following his defeat after attempting Hooper’s staggering 1,000-pound yoke carry, Tennyson moves onto the log press. Though it weighs just 165 pounds — a mere fraction compared to its predecessor — Hooper warns him about its trickiness. Undeterred, Tennyson successfully manages 165 pounds but fails at lifting 210 pounds.

As the bodybuilder and the strongest man progress through other trials like the barbell press — which sees Tennyson set a new personal best with a solid lift of 245 pounds — Hooper’s unrivaled strength shines brightly through every rep, pressing an awe-inspiring 455 pounds. Tennyson admires Hooper’s ability as he remarks on how easily Hooper appears to handle these intense weights.

The Strongest Man Keeps His Title

By the time the duo reaches their final challenge, Atlas Stones, Tennyson admits to being defeated by Hopper, who proved to
be the strongest man. His journey had pushed him to his limits, stating that he got his butt kicked throughout this rigorous workout while expressing some concern about losing a few brain cells in the process. Despite being a professional bodybuilder and his valiant efforts, it seems clear that there’s still much work to be done before he can reach Hooper’s level of power and strength.
